2020 update!
Things are looking a bit better now with Covid 19 in NYC and Top of The Rock was reopened in August after 5-month of closure. With social distancing, required masks and limited capacity you can propose on Top of the Rock.
What is special about Marriage Proposal at Top of Rock?
The view. Dissipate that the Empire State Building is the most iconic NYC building, there is a catch. When you go to the Empire State building, you don’t really see it. But when you are on Top of the Rock, you see this iconic view with the Empire State building.
It’s less crowded and has a better-organized entrance. You buy tickets in advance at a specific time, and it helps to avoid uncertainty in terms of how long time you can spend in the line.
Where it’s located.
It’s conveniently located in Midtown, on 50th street, between 5th and 6th avenue, just next to B, D, M, F trains. There is a great restaurant choice in this area, especially stake houses, for example, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse.
When is the best time to propose on Top Of the Rock.
I personally don’t like it when it’s very crowded up there and preferrer to go on weekdays, during the day, or an hour after sunset. It’s nice up there any time of year, but can get a bit windy during winter.
Don’t
Don’t plan to go there when it’s foggy or rainy. It’s 850 feet high and will have no view at all in this weather condition. Keep in mind that you can’t have this place private and be ready to have many people there while proposing.
Addons, decorations.
