Best Time to Propose in Central Park
Central Park is beautiful at any time of the year and day, but to make your proposal truly special, it is important to consider the time of day. In this article, I will share my favorite times for proposing and the best locations for this romantic moment.
When planning a proposal in Central Park, consider two key factors: how crowded the spot is and how good the lighting will be. Both can make the moment truly special.

Morning Hours: from sunrise to 11 AM
Morning in Central Park is a time when the park is not yet crowded, and the light is beautiful. This is the most peaceful time, perfect for an intimate proposal.
One of my favorite morning spots is Lake Plaza View.
Daytime: from 11 AM to couple hours before sunset.
Daytime, from 11 AM to couple hours before sunset, Is my less favorite time for the proposal. It’s the most crowed time in the park especially on weekends, and the light is the least favorable for photos. But at the same time it is possible to find a quiet place and take good pictures.
One of my favorite daytime proposal spots in Central Park is Wagner cove. Just make sure you have the permit to prosing there if you want to propose during weekends, it’s a very popular spot for weddings.
Late Afternoon: From Couple hours before sunset to 30 minutes after sunset
The time before sunset is the most ideal for proposals. The setting sun adds a special charm to the park, creating perfect conditions for romantic photos. However, it is important to note that this is also a very crowded time, so careful location selection is crucial.
One of the most beautiful places for a proposal during this time is the San Remo building view spot or Bow bridge view.
After Sunset: 30 minutes after sunset and later.
Central Park transforms after sunset when the city and park lights become visible. It’s also the time when it’s very few people in the park, and we can transform the area very beautifully with lights and candles. For a proposal at this time I always recommend use decorations with lights and candles. It’s also very challenging for most photographers to take pictures after the sunset, but I can say that I mastered it. I took some cinema classes while I was getting my Masters in SVA and love creating a movie like lighting scene in the park at night.

Some places in Central Park are particularly beautiful at certain times of the day but not good good other. The good example is the San Remo building view spot. While is great at late afternoon when the sun is setting, In the morning, the sun shines directly on this spot, creating overexposure and reducing photo quality. So if you are planning to propose in Central Park, alway ask your photographer about the at the specific time of day.
