The holiday season is New York City’s most wonderful time of year.
It comes as no surprise that it’s the most popular time for a marriage proposal.
The whole city transforms into a festive wonderland: it’s the perfect setting for a romantic proposal. Consider all the possible ways to give your partner the proposal of their dreams. In my previous post, I mentioned some of these ideas. Now, I give you my selection of the best Christmas trees in NYC for your proposal. Keep in mind that most of these locations are popular tourist attractions and are normally very crowded, especially on the weekends. For that reason, I highly recommend proposing on a weekday. Rockefeller Center tree proposal
This is the central Christmas tree in NYC and the most popular proposal spot during the holidays. It lights up in the evenings from December 4th until January 7th. This year the layout of the area around Rockefeller tree has slightly changed. A city winery is now at the location where we have done proposals in recent years, however we have already found a new spot for the best proposal shots. It’s important to note that the 49th and 50th Streets between 5th and 6th Avenues will be open to pedestrians only during the most congested hours. I would highly recommend proposing there off the busiest hours.
Lotte palace tree Proposal
This tree is just 5 minutes away from the Rockefeller tree, located in a slightly more elevated area. The tree here is smaller, but much more richly decorated in my opinion.
Madison Square Park Christmas tree proposal
A beautiful and unique location where you can have a Christmas tree and the Empire State Building both in one shot. Unlike most of the other NYC trees, this one is not usually crowded during the weekends, so you have a great opportunity to choose the time that’s perfect for you to pop the question.
Lincoln Center Christmas tree proposal
This location is further away from popular tourist attractions, in a relatively quiet area. It’s a beautiful tree in front of the Empire Hotel and across the street from Lincoln Center. It’s technically Uptown, but still in the center of the city and just a block away from Central Park.
*A lovely idea for a proposal here is to first go to see a show at Lincoln Center, and propose after you exit!
Washington Square Christmas tree proposal
This is a very nice tree located under Washington Square arch. It’s not too crowded as this area is mainly populated by NYU students and younger people compared to the midtown area.
Metropolitan museum Christmas tree proposal
The Met Christmas Tree and Neapolitan Baroque Crèche is a great New York City holiday tradition. This twenty-foot tree fits great in the frame for a marriage proposal. There are some restrictions and rules, but it’s an option. The area around the tree can be crowded, so I recommend choosing a weekday for a proposal here.
5th ave New York Public Library tree proposal
This is a beautiful tree hidden inside one of the greatest public buildings in NYC. It’s located near the entrance with a nice background. It is in a relatively busy area, but in the morning it is a great proposal location.
Bryant Park Tree Proposal
Although beautiful, Bryant Park is unfortunately a very crowded area. The tree is located just next to the Christmas market and ice skating rink. In addition, there are many tables around the tree where people usually sit, and it doesn’t provide the most romantic setting for a marriage proposal.
Private rooftop Christmas tree proposal
This is perhaps the most special proposal experience we offer with Proposal 007. If you want to propose in front of a Christmas tree, in a private and romantic environment, while still getting the NYC vibe and a classic view: this is the perfect package for you. We will rent an exclusive private rooftop and install a fully decorated Christmas tree. In one shot you can have a stunning view of the Empire State building, a sparkling Christmas tree, and the loving face of your partner as you make your proposal.
Not recommend tree for a proposal in NYC.
Sea Port Christmas tree proposal
It is located in downtown NYC, a bit far from major public transport and typically a high traffic area. Unless you have a distinct purpose or living/staying in this area, I don’t see any reason to go there. Plus, this area (as well as most of downtown) is usually very windy, due to its coastal location.
The Plaza hotel Christmas tree proposal
Although this is a nice tree, it is located in the hotel hall. For the past few years the entrance to this area has been restricted to only hotel guests during the holiday season. This year the security is outside the main entrance and will not allow anyone to go in. So unless you are a guest of the Plaza hotel, you don’t have much of a chance at getting to this tree.
